King of Sweden Visits Singapore Navy Museum

Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Sean Wat hosted His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden to a visit and tour of the Singapore Navy Museum this afternoon, where he was also briefed on the close defence cooperation between Singapore and Sweden. Also present were Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ms Maria Malmer Stenergard, and Ambassador of Sweden to Singapore Mr Anders Sjöberg. They were accompanied by Non-Resident Ambassador of Singapore to Sweden Mr Andrew Kwan, Commander Maritime Training and Doctrine Command Colonel Rinson Chua, as well as senior officials from Singapore and Sweden.

His Majesty is in Singapore for a three-day State Visit from 19 to 21 November 2024. The visit to the Singapore Navy Museum and interactions with the Ministry of Defence underscore the friendly and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Singapore and Sweden. The Republic of Singapore Navy and the Royal Swedish Navy have established strong and long-standing cooperation, particularly in the areas of submarine and mine countermeasures operations. Beyond technical cooperation, both the Singapore Armed Forces and the Swedish Armed Forces also interact regularly through a wide range of professional exchanges, visits, exercises, and cross-attendance of courses.
